Lockdown Sunday Lunches
6 years ago, this week, we opened for business at the Dew Drop Inn for the very first time. We had not run a pub before and were blissfully unaware of the rollercoaster ride on which we were about to embark. Over the years I have developed a very particular set of skills, many of which I never imagined would be needed, and several of them effluent related. I had the misty-eyed idea that running a pub would be all swanning around being charming and having a drink with the locals, not scooping urine crystals out of a U-bend with my finger, or sat on a log behind the bar cleaning up the raw sewage that was bubbling up from an open drain because someone had ignored the Out of Order sign on the ladies loo. Those were the days, my friend…
Anyway, 6 years on and heading into lockdown2, I thought that this would be a good time to formally announce that we will be leaving the Dew Drop Inn at the beginning of January, to spend more time as a family. It has been an amazing ride. We have met friends for life and become part of a fantastic community, and we are looking forward to being on the other side of the bar over the coming years.
Now we are into lockdown 2, we will be running our Sunday Lunch takeaway/delivery again from this weekend. Please either email hurleydewdrop@yahoo.co.uk, or call 07813 299683. Please order by Saturday evening. There’s a choice of Chicken, Beef, Pork, or Nut Roast, at £12.50, or £10 for OAPs. Deliveries will be between 11 and 12, Collections from 12 to 1pm.
Happy lockdown!
