So, it seems that the 4th of July will be a new Independence Day, where pubs with gardens will be able to open, but with restrictions, although it does seem to be a bit hazy as to whether pubs and restaurants can open inside. I know for sure that there are pubs that have already opened their doors, and there are restaurants that are planning to open on the 4th July. All I can say is that nothing is clear, and we will have to be cautious how we proceed. I am currently wading through the guidance notes and risk assessments and will update our website with the procedures that we will be following, in the next few weeks.
With that being said, nobody wants to go to the pub to be uptight and miserable. That’s the Landlord’s job. We are planning on opening at the beginning of July, there is a big marquee on order to weatherproof the Summer, some music events booked, and some others planned. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and website, and definitely call and book. Initially we will have to restrict numbers to allow us to maintain social distancing.
To prepare for opening, we must get on top of maintaining the acre or so of gardens. The strimmer has been serviced and there are brambles aplenty, so after this Sunday we will have to stop the Sunday lunch takeaway/delivery service to focus on reopening. We do hope to reintroduce something to help those people who are shielding, and probably will be until the end of the summer but we have lots to do in the next few weeks to prepare to reopen.
